David (the welsh landscape artist) has been my guide and inspiration for as long as I have painted. Over the years, I have attended quite a few of his splendid painting courses and recommend them to anyone who fears that painting might be a serious business. I am always mindful of David's standard advice, which is to focus exclusively on that element of the scene which most excites your emotions and then work outwards from there. And if it's really cold, put a drop of gin in your water!
